Walking on the beach called to the ocean

I was walking on the beach, feeling the cool ocean water on my feet as I made my way along the shoreline. I felt at ease and open to the world around me. Then something strange happened. Something in the water called out to me. It was just making a noise, but I understood that it was calling me to it. I started walking toward it as the water rose above my legs, and I got farther into the ocean until I could no longer touch the bottom, so I kept swimming toward the sound. It was an eerie sound, like a whale's, but higher-pitched. I noticed that the further I got, the further it would move away from me, as if to lure me deep into the ocean. I began to feel fear, but I kept moving further out to the sea, as if I had no control of my body. I felt something beneath me and I began to panic, then I suddenly woke up in my bed.
