Friend Gives me a strange gift

In my dream, a friend handed me a wrapped gift and told me I would need it. I didn't really know who this friend was, but I just knew this person was close to me. I looked around, and my friend was gone, and I was on a subway train. There were strangers standing around me now, and the train came to a stop. I got off at the stop, the doors closed, and the train left. The subway station looked abandoned, and no one was there. I walked around for a while, but it was completely empty, and I couldn't find a way out. I remembered the gift my nameless friend had given me, so I began to open the package. Inside was a type of lantern. It was strange-looking, but I knew it was a lantern. I found the switch on the lantern and flicked it on. The entire subway transformed into a modern, clean, well-lit mall, with people walking around. No one seemed to notice me, but I went along with their business. I could see large double doors at the end of the mall, lit up, with a bright light coming through them, so I began walking toward them.
