Wake up in my dream

I woke up in bed after having a nightmare. I couldn't really remember the dream, but I knew it was a nightmare because I woke up scared and uneasy. I got up out of bed and walked into the living room to look around. Everything was quiet and calm, so I started feeling better. Then I realized my dog wasn't there, and things were out of place, and the anxiety came back that something was wrong. I suddenly realized that I was still dreaming, and when I awoke early, I wasn't really waking up. So I go back to my bedroom and climb into bed to see if I can wake myself up for real. I close my eyes in the dream, and I can feel my real-life body, but I am struggling to wake up. I try to move my leg to see if that wakes me up, but I feel paralyzed. Finally, I move my arm, and I open my eyes, and I am really awake. I see my black dog at the end of my bed, and my room looks normal. I am truly awake now.
